we all know old comedy can have a way of loosing its grip after a few decades in a new time, as i started watching the movie i was afraid this had aged badly or something, but just to realise that really no one can make spoofs like mel brooks, right from the opening scene with dialogue that would be completely off limits by today's standard, and the pop tune the fellas break into... so many memorable quotes i'm not sure would be accepted repeating on this board, it's like i just think this generation was around at the right time to make outrageous comedies like these that would be unacceptable today but that we can still enjoy on dvd or something. just one of the many memorable scenes, when the town rave guy is speaking gibberish and then get replied by an impressed guy in suit: - "now who can argue with that?", and the awe on the faces of the honky tonk town as they realise who the new sheriff is, great soundtrack, soundtrack is actually moving at times, and great how dom deluise shows up near the end and creates a riot of a scene completely contrasting to the old west. gene wilder's role is inspired from the twilight zone episode "mr. denton on doomsday.", i didn't learn that until a while ago as i've always been common with this movie but watching the twilight zone it's really apparent... sheriff: - "a man that drinks like that and he don't eat, he is going to die", gene wilder: - ".....when?"

out of this world,
my ordinary vision turned,
so hot afraid honky burn,
when you unveiled,
got knocked out at your feet i lay,
charm scaring to death heart in pain,
brand new play till i beg for break,
exotic dame takes my mind away.
