ANYONE EVER seen this movie??

me neither

Did you tell LUKE..? Is THAT who you could tell??

reply

Yeah, I've seen it. I actually own a used VHS copy of it. It's a pretty nifty and enjoyable 70's blaxploitation version of a 40's private eye suspense thriller with a very solid and engaging performance by the ever-reliable Fred "the Hammer" Williamson as a down-at-the-heels private detective who winds up neck deep in all kinds of trouble when he takes on a seemingly simple case. I liked it a lot and even wrote a review which has been posted; I gave it an 8 out of 10. And it's yet another movie which needs to come out on DVD already.

VHS tapes are still available at Amazon. It hasn't to my knowledge, come out in DVD yet.

I've heard from a third hand info source that supposedly there's supernatural elements to this film -- that the cane is the source for those "magic pimp cane" stock items that "MadTV" parodied awhile ago... is any of that true?

reply

I have absolutely no idea.

reply

It's not only true, but it's false, too.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

reply

BLACK EYE will be shown on the BOUNCE channel at 1:00 a.m. tonight.

reply

No, not supernatural at all. The cane is a macguffin.

if man is 5
then the devil is 6
if the devil is 6
then God is 7
and if God is 7...

I'm watching it now on BounceTV. :D

reply

Yep. I had it on the DVR from Bounce. It wasn't bad. Not great.

reply

Saw it last night. It's okay and yet...not as good as Shaft.
