This wasn't a murder mystery in the classic sense, although it alluded to being one for the duration of the story. Personally, I felt the decision to keep the killer's identity shrouded in mystery at the end was brilliant, and the scariest aspect of the film. That lack of conclusiveness is chilling to me and gives the movie more of a lasting effect than if it was all wrapped up nice and neat like a Columbo episode.

If they did reveal who the killer was, you'd most likely be on here complaining about that. Black Christmas is perfect the way it is, no reveal is part of what makes the film creepy.

Claude cannot be a killer. Cats have much more effective methods on taking revenge on humans.

@ Strazdamonas, perhaps Claude was not the actual killer, but he was complicit. He acted as a lookout for Billy, beginning when Claude drew Claire to the closet so that Billy could smother her with the plastic. Then he led the housemother into the attic. He initially tried to hit her in the head with that hook thing, but his paws and upper body strength weren't enough, so he left it to Billy. Claude is evil. He even changes from a short-haired to fluffy cat at the drop of a hat. Just check out the errors on the IMDB page. Don't ever mess with your cat.

Haha! I just watched the film and came onto imdb to be bombarded with all these Billy was [insert character here]. I was seriously contemplating writing a post like this.
