Just a creepy scene. Billy is babbling incoherently over the phone and Barb is having none of that and is giving it all back to him. Then, out of nowhere, he says in a normal but serious voice "I'm going to kill you" and then hangs up. For a second you can see Barb is a little nervous about it. It made her uneasy. It just goes from one side to the other. Imagine getting that obscene phone call and then out of the blue the person on the other end is talking normal and utters those words. That would make anyone a little uneasy.

I find that is something missing from today's movies. That is such a simple line and it just sets the tone for the whole movie.

This movie is old and kinda cheesy compared to movies today, but those phone calls were creepy...like disturbing

reply

The movies today are boring and unoriginal. the actresses are the true horror's of these types of movies today. fake lips, fake everything. all they do is fire sarcastic lines at one another. and that passes for 'acting'

I love that moment. It really disturbed me.

I am constantly lamenting why modern movies cannot do it like this. Takes imagination. Something that seems to be lacking today.

I always liked the idea that Billy's actually a very cold, very calculating, very intelligent killer whose in full control of what he's doing. He's not insane, or at least none in the way we'd think of it. We can see throughout the film he's clearly very proficient at planning out his actions and going undetected. I highly doubt the loud babbling Billy on the phone would be capable of keeping his cool long enough. I'd think the phone calls are just him *beep* and trying to freak his victims out, or maybe its just for *beep* and giggles.

Those phone calls were definitely the creepiest parts of the movie.

I thought it was interesting when Jess calls out to the others that it is "the moaner." Obviously he has been calling the house before the sorority murders start. That in and of itself freaked me out.

reply

I think "the moaner" was a different person who was most likely just prank calling the girls. Billy was truly psychotic and Barb noticed the difference when she heard him and said "he's stepped up his act".

Great observation. Thank you.

He might be intelligent, but he is most definitely psychotic and nuerotic...the scene where he is wigging out in the attic tells me so. Their is nobody there for him to be putting on a show for.
