Old make up was bad

they did a bad job at making her look old. Why couldn't they just get an older lady to play the part?

reply

Because they couldn't find a 110 year-old actress?

Yes, the make-up looks "bad" by today's high-tech standards, but remember, this movie was made in 1974. I think they did a decent job - it's definitely better than the "aging" of Brad Pitt in Benjamin Button.

funny, I was just thinking that the 1974 aging makeup looked far better than anything they produce nowadays! Yeah, definitely Benjamin Button included.

reply

I agree and wondered the same thing, this is one of the worst make up jobs I've ever seen, even by 1974 standards.

reply

I disagree...look at movies around that time or better yet, a website called the makeup gallery...it will be plain to see that the makeup was anextraordinary achievement

" How 'bout some chocolate pain, bitch"

reply

I was just watching this movie and I have to say yeah that make up job was shytti but it was 1974 so.....

No Bitch Assness... LMAO!!

The make up job was much better than some other make up jobs I've seen!

Interesting that Stan Winston and Rick Baker took home the Emmy for Best Achievement in Makeup for this movie. I'll trust the opinions of the people qualified to vote in that category over the people commenting on this messageboard. Besides, how many of us can honestly say we know what a 110 year old woman is supposed to look like? Was it much worse than this photo of a real 110 year old woman? www.gettyimages.com/detail/EB8151-002/Riser

The makeup wasn't bad at all.

reply

I thought it was impressive especially for that time period, Rick Baker is one of the best and Ms Tyson's acting enhanced it even further.

reply

The make-up and voice were both bad, ruined it for me pretty quick.

If I've never seen it before, it's a new release to me!

reply

Well I thought it was a elderly woman who played her,so the make-up effects were excellent.

The voice did grate though.
