Ever since I was a child, I assumed this was a movie about Muhammad Ali.

At the time this movie came out, I was nine years old and a big Muhammad Ali fan. My dad and I used to watch his fights on TV together. I remember hearing the title of this movie or seeing an ad in the paper in 1974 and asking my parents to take me to see it. They did not take me, but did not explain why. Over the years I mostly forgot about it, but whenever the title caught my eye, I would think "Oh yeah, that Muhammad Ali movie..."

Just the other day, I happened upon a description of the plot of movie on a 1970s movie blog. Imagine my surprise when I finally realized, 40 odd years later, that it has nothing at all to do with Muhammad Ali.
