shareYeah, he was well-endowed. I guess his nudity shows the woman could be specially interested in him for his physique, and he gets a bit tired of being a sort of sex object later (thus the scene where the ladies touch his biceps etc).

I saw this in film history class, and in our post-film discussion, the instructor mentioned that the guy who played Ali was the director's lover. Yeah, he was gay. Whatever, that's why they call it acting.
It was during a heat wave, the air conditioning in the class was useless, and we were all kind of punchy. The guy right behind me, a really sweet soft-spoken guy, raised his hand and asked if the instructor though that that might be why, uh, in the scene in question, uh the actor lacked-- the actor didn't seem--
The instructor himself was pretty soft spoken, but he must have seen a rare opportunity to get off a good one, and without missing a beat he replied, "Admittedly his acting was a little stiff..."
The entire class, instructor included, went into gales of laughter for about a minute and a half straight. It took all the self-restraint I had not to raise my hand and say "HE'S SAYING IT WASN'T STIFF!"

shareWe watched this in my film studies class and the prof. discussed how we as the viewer have the opportunity to objectify him through these moments (like how naked women are sometimes objectified in films) much the same way other characters were doing. Also outside America nudity isn't always seen as such a shocking thing, he was in the shower and it was a normal, human moment that reflected the intimacy between the couple.
