possible mistake

a large plane i assume flies at over 20,000 feet and i assume a light plane flies at a much lower altitude. so i was wondering how is it possible for them to collide when they have already reached their altitude.

i should have watched it first, the plane was coming into land at salt lake city so it was descending which is why the collision happened

They were both coming in to land and when the pilot of the small plane was having his infarction, the plane was wildly ascending and descending.
