When did you first see this? Where were you? What did you think?

ME:
The week it opened. Local movie theater with a neighbor, I was in 7th grade. It was a matinee and it was snowing outside.
I liked it, but my LOVE for disaster movies would INFLAME with Earthquake & The Towering Inferno shortly after!

Saw it just after New Year's 1975 at the Studio Cinema in San Berdo. The audience took the thing very seriously--no inappropriate laughter and no chatter in the crowd after it was over. I think people were just way m ore behaved than they are now. I was in the 4th grade and remember having big crushes on Karen Black and Linda Blair. I liked the film, and went back to see it a year later on a double feature with a re-release of "American Graffiti" (the in-flight movie!!). What are the odds??

Fall 1974
I was a film critic for a large college daily, and I accompanied the Entertainment editor, who had decided to review this film himself, but knew how much I had loved "Airport."
I thought this was a ridiculous bastardization of the original film; he didn't give it a bad review.
