Coming to America reference

I didn't realize that there was a show called "That's my mama" until the Arsenio Hall character says it in "Coming to America". So I am going to ask a stupid question: Is there really a "What's going down" episode from "That's my mama"? It's just weird that the show exists but the episode doesn't exist and neither does Randy Watson :)

I never saw this show, but I too only know of the show because of the reference from "Coming To America". Until recently I thought it was just some made up show. Is the "What's Going Down" episode for real too?

Now go get your shinebox.

Make that three of us. The name of the show didn't sound any less ridiculous than anything else in that little rant. Guess I was wrong.

I'm not really here.

I used to watch the show and no there was no such episode and no such character.

OH CRAP... I had noooo idea this was a real show!!! lol
Coming to America is one of my favorite movies and I figured that was just a crazy line to make that scene funnier.....

LoL!!! I think that would be a shocker to everyone, that this is a real show. I just happened to be looking stuff up on Reuben and Rolly from the show Amen!

What actually suprised me from that same scene, was when "Randy Watson" sang that song about "children". I had NO IDEA that was a real song, till i saw some infomercial about a diva tunes collection. Haha!

reply

I think the real mystery here is why you were looking up stuff on Reuben and Rolly from Amen

reply

toddo :
No mystery. Reeuebn & Rolly were the best 2 characters on Amen.

ESPECIALLY Rolly.

I knew this was a real show back when it was ON, 1974-1975. The show was created by one of my former high school Performing Arts instructors, Dan T. Bradley.

There is no such episode. I guess that line was to reinforce the idea that Randy Watson is basically a nobody and hasn't really accomplished much.

I woke up this way...
