Would a version of this show work today?

What do you think?

I don't see why it COULDN'T be done well. I'd watch a modern Tattletales or Match Game so long as the hosts and celebrity guests were decent choices and tried to remain true to the spirit of the old game shows, rather than trashify them, as everyone is so apt to do nowadays.

I'd watch it if they got a decent host, didn't try to over dress it up and make for the long fake dramatic pauses (such as the Regis Philbin Password CBS tried a couple years ago that took a huge dump all over the show's beloved format.)

I wish basic type game shows would come back to TV that relied on clever humor and some innuendo and didn't cross the line like Steve Harvey's Family Feud often does and wasn't expanded into some annoying hour long format with dramatic lights and music and big prizes that are next to impossible to win.

But it seems the chances of shows like this coming back would be on GSN, and they really don't give big budgets to their original programing to make it really all that great. Though their Pyramid remake was quite enjoyable.

I absolutely agree. I miss the style of these classic game shows...iconic set, fun game with reasonable rules, distinctive host, humor that doesn't feel the need to be more risque than, say, the old Hollywood Squares, energy and chemistry among the host, contestant(s), and/or celebrity guests...wish GSN would try to recapture the golden days. I did enjoy the "Million Dollar Password" show somewhat, and was filling out an application to be a contestant just as I read that it was being canceled...but it WAS overdone, and I was sometimes disappointed with their celebrity choices. I felt sure that they could have gotten a lot of much better people. But seeing Betty White play again was awesome...Neil Patrick Harris would have been an excellent partner to have...and William Shatner, well, he had me facepalming and feeling pretty bad because that was a pretty embarrassing game for him...but still, it was funny to see old Captain Kirk trying his hand at Password. xD

It could work but it really depends on the celebrities chosen for the show, and not necessarily the host. Celebrities in 2014 and in recent years, lack the star appeal of the sixties and seventies.
