Shelby Mustangs

As we all know, the most famous car that was driven by the villains in The Sweeney were the 3.8 litre S Type Jaguars. But, in the episodes, The Placer, Golden Boy, Chalk and Cheese and Loving Arms, the cars that the villains were driving were various Shelby GT350s. Why do you think that those various villains in those particular episodes, drove these petrol guzzling, tyre smoking V8 muscle machines in such a small country that Britain is?
