How can the remake possibly match this TV classic?

Has DCEU Fanatic seen this?

I wonder if Captain Marvel and Doctor Who both popped into the same clinic to have their sex change operations ? Personally I've cut off contact with both of them as I prefer to remember them the way they were.

Well, Amazon was running a special and I decided to pick this series up on blu ray.
How does it compare to the other Captain Marvel, the serialized version from the 40s and the recent movie.
I think the serialized version is still my favorite, it is often brutal, violent and the cliffhangers are very well done. And I have to say the way they made him fly was very effective.
This 70s version comes in second place, it is odd that they don't spend time showing how Billy Batson becomes Marvel, I guess it was commonly known. Marvel here is not mean at all, he doesn't toss bad guys off buildings to their deaths, with the limited budget I think they did a decent job. It is interesting how the actor who plays Captain Marvel changes right in the middle. But I guess the suit is what matters. I think the first actor is better than the second, though.
I do like the recent movie but something I didn't like is the reason I put this a little below the other two. When Billy Batson becomes Captain Marvel, he retains his childish nature. He doesn't become an adult with wisdom and intelligence. He is still a child but in a grown up body. It does make for some funny scenes but I prefer an adult Captain Marvel.

I used to watch this as a kid when it was originally broadcast on Saturday mornings. It was a kid’s show so they wouldn’t show anything really violent. I think I remember TV Guide doing a write up of the show.

True it's for a younger audience. It has a lesson in each episode from the Elders. It's not a bad show at all.

The movies are not remakes of this series. They’re just using the same source material
