Jackson Bostwick

Does anyone know why Jackson Bostwick was gone after season one and John Davey took over for the next two seasons?

reply

I'm not sure why he left. Jackson was the better Captain Marvel. My brother and I always called the second guy the "fat Captain Marvel". lol

In numerous interviews, Jackson has stated that he was fired only two episodes into the second season, falsely accused of holding out for more money by not showing up on the set one day. The truth is that Jackson was shooting a scene for Shazam the day before and was injured. His eye started to swell, and obviously he couldn't show up the next day on set. The nurse failed to tell the producers why Jackson was not on set the next day, and he was fired. In Screen Actor's Guild arbitration, Jackson was awarded payment for all of the episodes he didn't get to be in plus residuals. Jackson will tell his side of the story and the fun he had doing Shazam in his upcoming book, Magic, Myth, and a Mortal.

When is Magic, Myth, and a Mortal, going to be released?

reply

I just don't know. It depends on when a publisher can be secured. I'll ask Jackson the next time I see him, which will be in about three weeks as I write this.

Thank you for your replie. Just let him know that I, and I imangine others, would love to hear the story of a actor on a Saturday Morning Live Action Show.

Really? How long ago? Also, was this like some type of Sci-fi convention?

Along with his book, watch for Jackson's film "Bloody Mary-Lite: An Urban Fairy Tale," shot in 2006 in Townsend Tenn. The rough cut is finished and the film should be released by the end of this year.
Jackson was by far the best Captain Marvel and is a terrific guy. After working with him on Bloody mary, we became very good friends.

Personally, I'd rate Tom Tyler as the best Captain Marvel; but, Bostwick was the better of the two on the show.

I work for a major bookseller and have had a customer ask about this and have heard that Bostwick has mentioned it at personal appearances, as well as in an article in Filfax Magazine. I still haven't seen anything definite crop up. Is he still trying to interest a publisher or looking at the vanity press route (PublishAmerica, iUniverse, etc..)? I would suspect pictures from the show would be a necessity for a major publisher and also be problematic, due to copyright.

reply

That makes sense. I don't know anything about publishing but what you say sounds reasonable.

Personally, I would be delighted to read it even without images. Heck, if he'd just self-publish it digitally or something I'd be happy. Guess he's holding out for a traditional type book publication. That would be nice ... if it ever happens.

I can't wait to see Bloody Mary-Lite. Jackson tells me it is the best thing going, and congrats to you for working on the movie. Everyone is in for a real treat when its released.

Is that book ever going to be made? I dare say that John Davey blew a chance by not coming out with a book by now and getting a holeshot on Bostwick.I cant stand Daveys CM portrayal, but I would buy a book from him (or Michael Gray) if one came along.Waiting for Bostwick's sounds like a losing proposition.

He has been anxious for several years to get it published. The book is already written, but other things have taken priority in his life right now.
