Moving to COZI TV in January

Noon weekdays...

You can't go wrong drowning politicians Henry. The Black Swan (1942)

reply

Well, it's good to have it on TV again, but to put it with the likes of Murder She Wrote just seems wrong. I guess it's just not a "cozy" show: Rockford is a stud and he drives a fast car!

reply

While it's better than nothing at all, I just don't have the endurance to wade through egregious content edits and numerous commercial intrusions of endless ads for mobility scooters and ambulance chasing attorneys plying their hideous wares upon the weary viewer. It makes me very glad indeed that The Rockford Files is on DVD.

If you like in on dvd you should check it out on Netflix, it looks AMAZING in 1080p!

reply

Well, it and most other classic TV shows are leaving Netflix January 1st. :(

reply

I've looked at multiple news articles on what's leaving Netflix in January 2017 and I don't see Rockford on it. So hopefully it's not!

If you click on an episode to watch it, and pause it, a notice in the bottom left corner says "leaving January 1st". I think it also shows up when you click on the "seasons" tab, but it depends on which device you use. Pretty deceiving on Netflix's part to only show the date they're taking it off only during those instances.
NBC ordered all the classics I mentioned to be taken off so they can put it on their Cozi TV, which looks to be only available to dish users in the US at the moment (but I could be mistaken about that). They're also planning on doing a streaming service, which is why they're taking all these shows, but it's not going to be completed until late 2017 or early '18. If that's the case, they should've let these shows play on Netflix until it's ready, because who's going to want to watch a non-HD show at a specified time, with commercials when they've been watching it in HD at a time of their choosing.

I checked on a different device and you're right. Welp it looks like I'm marathoning Rockford in HD one last time before it's off netflix. Here's hoping we get it on Blu-Ray soon!

reply

Agreed! Or even just a better DVD copy.

reply

How about having them released uncut? Some people seem unaware that they're all edited.

reply

Well, it and most other classic TV shows are leaving Netflix January 1st.

Looks like I'll be canceling Netflix then.

reply

Damn no way to get it in HD then and it looks so phenomenal in 1080p

reply

Just watched an episode today and they cut it up so badly. Missing the final 3 minutes or so.

I'm in Australia, and our seasons are 40 bucks a piece. Ended up buying the US boxset, which including shipping, only cost about 110 AUD. The quality is a bit of a shock when one is used to the 1080p Netflix episodes, but it's better than nothing,,,and not hard to get used to. I'd say Rockford fans should buy the seasons on DVD rather than watch on CoziTV.

reply

Good point, Hannah. I've only seen it in standard definition (35mm) going back to when it debuted in 1974 so I haven't been spoiled by the 1080p. The show looks fine on DVD.

reply

As great as RF is, watching on COZI TV is next to impossible, commercials cuts mid sentence, like listening to AM radio with 32 minutes of ads per hour

reply

Only MeTV did it justice.
