Only 20

Sorry if this has already appeared on here but.....I'm surprised how few episodes of The brilliant Porridge was made. I've enjoyed recent repeats. Would swear that there was lots more. Not that it matters. Look at Faulty Towers. Enjoyed the festive period tv showing tributes to Mr Barker. Plus really runs of The Two Ronnies. I laughed to myself as I watched a recent David Walliams sketch show. It was funny, but I could not help but think of his predictive text sketch. Mr Barker would have had so much fun with predictive jokes. The master of word play. Walliams was funny. But the master would of......Well no point in imagining now.

I'm surprised there were only 20 episodes. Then again, Going Straight wasn't that good, so its probably best they stopped when they did.

Kindly disagree.

I thought Going Straight was excellent, a second series was planned and it was much more successful than people thought. It was only the sad death of Richard Beckinsale that stopped the second series being made, it had already been written in rough form. It is amazing how many people think it was cancelled because it was rubbish having never seen the show.

Yes, against Porridge it would always be second best but against other contemporary comedies it did very well.

I have actually seen it, still didn't like it

Not that unusual for a British sitcom. There have been several that haven't run more than 3 series.
