Depressing

Who would watch this in 2019? Seems like a depressing choice of entertainment.

Considering what the major networks offer, I can understand why (personally, I've become a Netflix and Hulu fan)

I watched it for a few seasons, then it became "Little Tragedy on the Prairie" and I got tired of the weekly fire, plague, blinding, death, bankruptcy, stroke, paralysis, etc., etc.

The show went down the crapper after the disgusting "May We Make Them Proud" two-parter. Then it became just another show using tragedy and shocking themes for ratings.

I have to agree that around season 7 it started to get a bit of a downer but there were still a handful of really good episodes in the mix. "The Legend of Black Jake" (season 8) is an absolute classic.
