Why did Charles put a window in the girls room

If they were suppose to be sleeping during the night. What's the point?

I'm just guessing, maybe for air? (If it opened.)

People also used the sun to wake them up. You got up when it was light and called it a day when it got dark. Candles were actually expensive.

Good point about waking up to the sun. And can you imagine how hot it would get in the summer without an opening window?

Ugh. It would be wretched.

I don't know that it was a super high priority, and glass was expensive...but a window is good to have in a room as a potential fire escape, as well.

Good point, and we all know how often fires happened on this show.

Hmmmmmmm. I wonder if Charles was planning on starting a fire while Caroline slept

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

It gets hot in summer. They were basically sleeping in an attic and heat rises.

so he could peek in
everyone knows that

reply

Well, the real question is, if he'd known Mary was going to end up blind....would he have bothered putting a window in?
