What happened to Keiths new Football Career?

In one of the final episodes (season 6 , episode 17) Thelma and Keiths anniversary has come back around and they are all sharing gifts and good news. Keith informs everybody that he has gotten a new offer to play football again and signed the lease on a new apartment.Thelma announces a pregnancy. A few episodes later, Keith is depressed and talking about not being able to play football, AGAIN. He is out looking for a job, any job he can find. What in the world happened? Its highly irritating how they dropped that story line.

Is that just how shows were written back then? Poorly? You could just write something into the story and pretend the previous episode never happened? Or not address the changes? Im so confused that Im thinking the episodes are just "mixed" up wrong.

I watch good times, through my on demand feature , on my cable. For whatever reason, the final episode is listed wrong and the one listed as final is not the final episode. The final episode is indeed, the episode where Thelma is pregnant and Keith is playing football again.Thats good news.

Although, I have to be honest, It wouldnt have been surprising given the shows history of dangling a happy ending and then snatching it away, for them to do something like that. But I am relieved. Wikipedia, cleared it all up for me.

I was about to say you must have seen the episodes out of order because the one with everyone getting what they wanted was the series finale.

Annoying the world since 1960!

For some reason I think syndication plays the final episodes out of sequence because on my local Antenna TV run they'll play the series finale then a few random episodes from the last season and the last episode they usually play before the rotation starts at the beginning again is the one where J.J. goes out with T.C.

Actually the show was canceled half way through the 1978-1979 season, so the episodes were all shot and edited and CBS aired the finale then burned off the remaining episodes over the summer.

The episode titled "Cousin Raymond" is listed for air 1980, and "Good Times" ended in 1979, I thought that perhaps the show might have still showed repeats up until 1980 seeing the the show ended in August of 1979. I find that strange.
