Chico and the Man DVD

Chico and the Man was a fabulously TV funny series. The chemistry between newcomer Freddie Prinze (Chico) and veteran Jack Albertson (the Man) is still a joy to see.

I am really surprised that this TV gem has not been released on DVD. Does anyone know if there are any plans in the works?

I know a lot of people who are waiting for this TV series to come out on DVD. Many of us have VHS tapes of the show that we taped off of TVLand when they were running the show, but as everyone knows, syndicators "strip" these shows. To own them uncut and on DVD quality would be a dream come true. Columbia House and other marketers... are you listening?

reply

I agree, it would be nice, if there was a complete collection of Chico and the Man available in DVD quality. Hopefully they are listening.

I have been a huge fan of Chico and the Man since the 70's. I have recently become acquainted with many other CATM fans and we are all in full agreement that we'd LOVE to see CATM on DVD!!! Please HURRY and make this available to us!!!!!!!

I heard that they are bringing this show to the big screen next summer.

I heard its out on DVD--season one episodes only

The scuttlebutt is that one of the seasons, we don't know which one yet, will be released this year, but it looks like in the second half of the year since it hasn't shown up on any of the entertainment distributer lists yet. Here's hoping soon, and that it is either season's one, two or three. I would hope they would start with season one, cause you never know with these people.

reply

I HOPE they release the DVD by season. I bought the 'favorites' DVD but its only 6 episodes and it'd be nice to watch them in the order they actually aired.

I voted for it, so here's hoping.

I can't believe its not available on DVD yet, new shows like 24 are not even cold from being aired and are available on DVD but this show is 30 years old and you can't get it yet? I know it was popular in its day so that shouldn't be a problem and its a hell of a lot better then the stuff they have on TV today by Far especially with all this reality crap on tv today that is just terrible stuff, lets get CATM on DVD soon.

reply

http://video.aol.com has about 24 episodes on it. I would like to find out if anyone has availability to find out where Director Peter Baldwin could be reached. He is still alive and he was the director of CATM. I think David Pollock and James Komack are still alive too. If anyone finds any way of contacting any of these people, please email me at [email protected]. I would like to reproduce this sitcom. I have always been fun of it. Some of the funny jokes and lines that were used back in the 70's is still very funny, but not used today. Someone help me please get the contact info. Mark

This show needs a proper DVD, with all the seasons.

With the other Komack production, Welcome Back Kotter coming out this week, can CATM be too far behind??? I hope not

reply

Seven years later, and we're still waiting. The "Television Favorites" DVD is an excellent teaser, but it's only six episodes. Hallo, Shout Factory?

reply

2016 now and still no. Just bought Welcome Back Kotter though... can't wait to watch. But C&tM on my shelf with it would be a dream come true. One of my holy grails I'm waiting on....

(oh...does anyone know a "special place" *wink wink* where one can get all the episodes... ?)

reply

I know iOffer.com was one of those "special places" in the past for those seeking out the complete "Chico and the Man," but it looks like that's no longer the case.

I have the complete "Welcome Back, Kotter," and though I still love that show, I can't say it has quite the same appeal now as it did then.

Why has Chico and The Man never been released as a series on DVD?

I never thought it was funny. Plus. weird about Hunga-rican Freddy Prinze. All those comments about knowing lots of people waiting for this show to come out ... is so much nonsense. Today kids grow up with that nonsense as their level mark and they don't really know what to think.
