Same rating I gave it and I agree. The film actually inspired me to write a novel that was mildly influenced by it. I thought the way the film positioned the main character in a role that was protagonist and antagonist at the same time was very interesting.

The fact that the audience is sort of put in with the killer and his lifestyle adds to the creepiness; plus Fritz wasn't necessarily vilified in the film.

I guess Hannibal Lector received similar treatment, but Fritz seemed more like a real, everyday person which adds to the menacing feeling.

Some of the best atmosphere I've seen in a Fassbinder production.
This needs a score of 7.4 at least.
