January 28 and 29, 2011. Verne appears for the Sat. 2pm show and maybe the Sunday 2pm Show. Greg Gagne is at the evening show. I'm going for sure. There's likely to be fines and suspensions, even if I don't know if I'm foot or horseback.
shareBig Crowd at the Parkway Theater for the Saturday Afternoon show. Verne seeemed to be having fun and Greg Gagne and Al DeRusha gave entertaining speeches. If you're expecting the wrestling equivalent of "Raging Bull" or "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" (both - 10/10), you'll be extremely disappointed. However, this is incredibly entertaining for those who want to remember the great days of pro wrestling in the 70s, especially for those who grew up watching AWA wrestlers like The Crusher, The Bruiser, Larry Hennig, Verne Gagne, Dusty Rhodes, Dick Murdoch, Wilbur Snyder . . . Twin Citians will recognize Mel Jass (the first interviewer), Marty O'Neil and Jim Klobuchar. Even east coast wrestling icon Vince McMahon Sr. (the dad) and Mr. "fines and suspensions" himself, Wally Karbo make appearances. My IMDB score for the actual quality of the movie is 4/10 (one point less than the highly regarded but for me disappointing Mickey Roarke movie of the same title). The experience of watching this movie and the great memories are a 10/10.
