The car crash

The car crash footage used to depict the demise of Edd Byrnes' red herring character is taken from the climax of Elizabeth Taylor's overwrought classic Butterfield 8. BUT! it isn't merely lifted from a finished print! The POV shot of crashing through the barrier appears in Butterfield 8 as seen from inside the car with Taylor flailing frantically. The shot of the car launching off the sand pile is from a different closer angle from that used in Butterfield 8. The actual crash seems to be the only bit common to both films. All three shots are at an incorrect aspect ratio to squeeze into the DuoVision half-screen.
