locations

Anyone know the spcific locations for this movie beyond the info at the end of the movie? i was wondering about the small towns and swamp areas shot in the film.

I know that at least part of it was shot in southern Arkansas. One of my old bossess was one of the guys tied up in the boat.

It was shot mainly in/around Benton, Arkansas. The town square for Bogan County, is the town square in the town of Benton, in Saline County. There were several shots throughout the region. The country store where Reb and Gator get into it about his intentions still stands - it is in Scott, AR and is home to Cotham's Mercantile and is mainly an eating place now. I-30 Speedway is where they shot the racing scenes at the beginning and the prison farm is outside of Pine Bluff, AR. Seems strange now to watch it and see them running on the back roads and now some of those areas are built up with big homes.

I 30 Speedway is at the county line between Little Rock and Benton, nowhere near Pine Bluff. At the time of filming, it was called the Benton Speedbowl. I spent many a Saturday night there with my family, growing up in the late 60s/early 70s. I 30 doesn't even go through Pine Bluff.

The locations are all in central Arkansas (Saline County)... mostly Benton and Bauxite with a few shots in rural SW Little Rock (Pulaski County).

I lived grew up in Benton and my mother was an extra in the movie and is (and still) an editor at the local newspaper. It was a big deal for a town (Benton) that had (maybe) 10,000-12,000 people at the time.

Yes, I remember when they're in the sheriff's office, there's a Razorback poster.

There is an Acme Brick location in the blocker car chase scene which is likely in Malvern, Arkansas.
