Any movies similar to this???

Does anyone know of any movies similar to this besides the tales from the crypt (73 version) and
creepshow movies?

reply

There was Tales from the Hood. Also, just a couple years ago, there was Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror that had three stories in it. Something kind of similar is the film Waxwork... while not an anthology movie in the strictest sense, it DOES have a lot of different story characters to it. Another I can think of is The Dungeonmaster... while more of a sci-fi/fantasy film, it had several segments to it, united by one cover story, and at least one zombie sequence in it.

Dr. Terror's House of Horrors comes to mind

That's an excellent one, too, loved Peter Cushing in that one. Also, there's another one that came out in the 1980s called Nightmares or something like that... I don't remember every story in it, but I do remember one with Emilio Estevez trying to make it to the final level of an arcade game called the Bishop of Battle... and not exactly having a good time when he finally makes it. Also, there's one called Trick 'R Treat coming out on DVD soon that looks to be good. Another I just thought of was Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, all stories from Stephen King and George Romero, just like the Creepshows.

Thanks for all the suggestions!!!! I appreciate it! i'm definitely going to check what you guys suggested out because the only one i've seen out of them all is the tales from the darkside the movie. I did a lot of looking around and I guess there were like 5 or 6 movies that were anthology types most of them with Peter Cushing and/or Christopher Lee in most. From beyond the grave, torture garden, the house that dripped blood, asylum, are some of them but I think there's a couple of more, the names are just failing me right now.

Milton Subotsky and Max Rosenberg produced the following anthology films for Amicus, of which 'Vault of Horror' is a late example:

'Dr Terror's House of Horrors' (1965)
'Torture Garden' (1967)
'The house that dripped blood' (1970)
'Tales from the crypt' (1972)
'Asylum' (1972)
'Vault of horror' (1973)
'From beyond the grave (1973)

After his business partnership with Max Rosenberg came to an end, Milton Subotsky produced another couple of anthology films on his own:

'The Uncanny' (1977)
'Monster Club' (1980)

Another one definitely worth mentioning is

"Tales That Witness Madness" (1973)

Cool.

Creepshow 1 & 2, and tales from the darkside are classics. You can probably add cat's eye to that list by Stephen King

Grim Prairie Tales with Brad Dourif and James Earl Jones. I like the story where the woman sucks the man into her vagina

My personal favourite is 'Dr. Terror's House of Horrors'.

Dr. Terror (a fine performance from Peter Cushing) runs tarot card readings for fellow passengers during a train journey (Roy Castle, Alan Freeman, Donald Sutherland, Neil McCallum and a sceptical Christopher Lee) with suitably macabre results.
