"The Vault of Horror" or "Tales From the Crypt"?

I Absolutly love both of these films. 'Vault of horror' takes it for me. The stories are genuinly creepy. Perfect movies on a Halloween night with a bit of junk food.

Both films are great but I love Tales From the Crypt's darker, Gothic atmosphere so I think it's slightly better.

I give it to 'Vault of Horror' because I think the writing, structure, and effects are much better.

That said, I have to admit I may be biased. I first saw this movie at the Boys Club in Norfolk, Va in '81 or '82, when I was about 11. It really creeped me out, and I never forgot it, especially the scene where the painting is destroyed by thinner.

It wasn't until many, many years later that I saw 'Tales from the Crypt' and just wasn't nearly as impressed with it.

I like 'Vault' better. More of an atmosphere about the stories. I really like the vampirism story in this one.

Tales from the Crypt had (largely) better stories, but The Vault of Horror had a much better ending.

Overall, I feel they balance out. I rate them both 7/10.

If this is a consular ship, where is the ambassador?

Tough call, but I give the edge to Tales.

I would rate them both a 7 as well with Vault being the one I tend to watch more often.
