I tried watching this dvd from net flix and the sound wouldn't work... so I flipped through the scenes and they were all animated... there in nothing on this Imdb site that says it's annimated?

I am sure that there was both an animated and non animated version of this. A bit harsh to call Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton wooden, but there you go! I've not seen the cartoon version, but there definitely was one. IMDB sometimes has a problem with multiple formats for old films like this.

I have no idea what several people are talking about, but the version with Richard Burton, Peter O'Toole and Elizabeth is definitely not animated. There's no animation at all.

For goodness sake use some brains and research this title. You will find it listed as an animated version from 1992 by siriol animation company using archival audio of Richard Burton plus other cast members not in the 1972 version.

Why is that so difficult?

Some of the confusion may be caused by an erroneous page on Amazon that mixes up an animated version with the one-and-only live action film of 1972.
