I gave the film 4/10

Good music and great acting by the girl lead.

By far one of the most overrated films I watched.

Just disgusting. And not because of the sex or the provocativeness. MB character was clearly some sort of sexual deviant...

SPOILER .............

Within 20 minutes i thought to my self, if he doesn't end up killing himself or dying this film will be a failure.

Summary: A girl with an "Electra Complex" is mental abused and raped by pedophile.... oh and there is beautiful music in the background....enjoy!!!

Oh, I get it. Not because of the sex...but because of the SEX.

The music in the film was totally off. Too melodramatic in the beginning then the polynesian stuff when moving ino the apartment was mismatched.

If you´re not a fan gross, eccentric Italian films, then you´ll never understand why those movies have such devoted followers (Such as myself). I love wacky films like this exactly *BECAUSE* they transgress and offend, which the Italians apparently love doing. =D

If you felt that strongly about it, I'm surprised you even gave it a 4. I didn't think it was that bad though (gave it a 6 though I would give 5 before a 7). I wouldn't agree with those who think this is some kind of a special film. At the end of the day, it's about a lost soul who has no idea what he wants out of life, and apparently never has. And for a while, he is to varying degrees enamored (or maybe merely preoccupied) with the company of a wore.

I don't think the girl was a child or underaged, so, that doesn't make Brando a pedophile. A young adult and a middle aged adult are... both adults.

I am watching it now, and I simply can't get into this movie. I keep pausing it to do other things, but I don't like it at all.

I love sex, I just don't love the sex here lol

I agree, couldn't get into it at all.

A friend of mine and I tried to watch it once, we thought "It's from 1972, it'll be all, like, tame..."

Ha ha ha. We turned to each other after the butter scene and said "I don't want to watch the rest."
