In your opinion, what did you think of his character played by legendary Marlon Brando in this movie? Was he a good or a bad person, and was Jeanne correct to shoot him in the end?

Also - what is the whole actual deal with the butter scene in this movie and why does it cause so much controversy, what happened with it? And is the outrage justified?

I wonder if somehow Paul did not drive his wife to suicide. If the treatment of his mother-in-law and Jeanne are indication, then it’s quite possible. If the only two choices are good and bad, then I would have to lean to the bad side.
