not as good as I expected

I Worship The Goddess Amber Tamblyn

reply

I gave it a 6 based on the performances, but I agree it was a bit disappointing. It's hard to believe Glenda Jackson won the Best Actress Oscar for this over Ellen Burstyn in "The Exorcist."

reply

I agree. This was one of the top 5 movies of 1973 according to "Oscar"??? What I did take away from this movie was a sense of film history. It said alot about the times. The casual-ness of their affair and the language really surprised me.

reply

yes, I agree. Recently saw it again for the second time and it felt very dated.
didn't like the characters at all, particularly Glenda Jackson's.Awful women with no redeeming features as far as I could see. And that hair is so obviously a wig!
It drags on and on ...............grim and boring.

reply

I can't imagine how this could have been nominated for Best Picture or how it could have won Glenda Jackson a second Oscar for Best Actress.

I personally would have given the Oscar for Barbra Streisand for "The Way We Were" that year. Too bad she was so unpopular among her colleagues.

reply

Can anyone believe that this film was nominated above Papillon for crying out loud.

reply

Yes.
