The Five Fingers Of Death Rules

Lo Lieh kicked tail in his younger days. A must see for all the old school Kung Fu fans.

I agree. I think it's a shame if people can't see past the bad dubbing, corny love scenes and some exaggerated kung fu action effects. I think the characters are wonderful, the story is great, and some of the martial arts action looks far more realistic than some expensively produced Hollywood movies. Also anyone who enjoyed Kill Bill Vol 1 should watch this film because it is obviously a source of inspiration for Tarantino.

I long for scenes where man has never trod

Tarantino knocked a lot of this off including the iron fist technique music...
This is by far my favorite old kung fu movie... It's excellent, great fighting and very fun!

I managed to get a copy on e-bay, but be careful about the title. When I first saw it, it was known as King Boxer, but it's now known as Five Fingers of Death. I bought King Boxer first and realised my mistake.

What do you mean? I got this movie under the name of King Boxer. I belive it's the Hong Kong version. It has English subs, anyway, THIS MOVIE IS THE BEST!!! I Loved it, it's truly a classic!

The confusion comes from two King Boxers as follows:

1. Tian xia di yi quan (1972)
aka "King Boxer" - Hong Kong (English title) (original subtitled version)
2. Siu kuen wong (1971)
aka "King Boxer" - Hong Kong (English title)

I bought number 2 first - not the worst martial arts film I've seen but not a patch on:

1. Tian xia di yi quan (1972)
aka "Five Fingers of Death" - USA

So it looks as though I've got the USA version.

It came out on DVD around 2003-2004. I ordered it at a special online DVD store, but a few months later I saw it at other places like a Suncoast movie store, and I believe on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble online. So it's now readily available. Just search via Google under the various alternative titles for this film, if necessary.

Get the Dragon Dynasty DVD, it's by far the best version of this classic.
