What movie played with this one in 1972?

I saw this movie at a double or triple feature of kung fu films, in 1972, in San Diego, California when it first came out. I see that another reviewer also saw it at a double feature around the same time. What kung fu movie(s) played with this one? I'd love to see the other one(s) again, too, but all the movie scenes I remember from that day turned out to be only from "Five Fingers of Death", so now I don't have a clue, other than the year of release!

Might it have been Fists of Fury?

reply

No, Bruce Lee's Fists of Fury (The Big Boss) came to the USA the following year, in 1972.

I saw this movie in 1972, when I was 6 years old.
If I remember correctly, it showed with a 3D Kungfu movie wherein some guy had some sort of guillotine on a chain. He'd throw the thing, it would snap around people's necks, then he'd snatch their heads off. I haven't a clue as to the title of the film.

Master of the Flying Guillotine?

reply

That definitely sounds like Master of the Flying Guillotine. Only problem is it wasn't in 3D(to my knowledge) and came out in 1975. It was probably released on a double bill together after 1972 since both played in Grindhouses.

Are you sure it was in 1972 that you saw it and not in the Spring of 1973?
I think it just played solo at the movie houses in its intial release,
except they continously ran it right after the first showing over and over.
That was back when you could keep on sitting through it at the cinema just to watch it again for free, as many times as you wanted to until early morning anyway.
Those where during the years before the ushers then started clearing people out after each showing at the movie house
which began sometime in the late 1970's.
There were not too many other Kung Fu movies released soon after it,
so if you went to the Drive-In and saw it with 2 other movies,
it was with other Warner Bros. movies like High Plains Drifter,or Scorpio
or Hands of the Ripper.
Anyway I remember first seeing Five Fingers of Death as a double feature
with Sacred Knives of Vengeance which was released in late 1973.
After Enter the Dragon peaked at the boxoffice in the Summer of 1973,
it also was released in late 1974 nationwide with Five Fingers of Death as a double feature in late 1974.
Five Fingers of Death was the second movie shown
and if you didn't see it originally it suffered from viewing after watching
Bruce Lee in a movie of course.

The first time I saw it, it was a single feature.
