Chess moves.

Did anyone check out if the chess moves are actually any good?

I have only seen part way through of this movie, say the last 3rd on TV but it seemed really fun.
I would like to check if those chess moves are actually pretty good, seeing as he the thief had no idea what the opponents moves were they must have been pretty good moves.

Anyone know the moves?

The storyline even points out that the burgler must not play chess because he moves a black piece. In chess, white always moves first. So his move is wrong.
However, I'm just a few minutes into the movie and I think that there is going to be a twist about the chess moves. If the writers were clever, the investigator will realize that he was actually making the game's second move-- Societ made the first move and he is replying to it! This would follow the thread of his being feed up with all the corruption in society (why he quit his job and went into crime in the first place.)
But... Considering the stilted dialog and the terribly stereotypical ethnic character and the ham-fisted set up to the car chase and the mediocre car chase sequence, I'm not holding out hope for the talent of the writers.

So now that I've finished the movie; yeah, I was right to not trust the writers. There was no twist and the entire chess subplot to a very dumb comic relief, slapstick bit with no point at all to the overall plot line.

There is no way to tell what moves whit is making and and O'NeL's character uses a computer program for his moves anyway, so the who plot devices becomes moot and is abandoned as a motivating factor.

Chess wasn't the motivating factor. Making money by fencing stolen jewels was.
