CUTS MADE SINCE THE ORIGINAL RELEASE?

I saw this film at the cinema on its first release. I am sure that I remember a scene where a man is shot and falls out of the window of a high-rise building .... and the camera follows him all the way down, showing him actually hit the pavement from a great height. Yet when I`ve seen the film on television, this is cur short, showing him only briefly starting to fall out of the window. Is the uncut version available anywhere? Or is my memory playing tricks?

You saw it in the Cinema, oh man i wish i could have bin there. I'm 22 so u can imagine that i'm too young for any of his films. He's great.
That cut u mentioned is on the video, the scene where the men blow some mafia away. U remember is it was big at the time?

When I saw the film on a pay cable station last year, the scene you mentioned--the guy hitting the pavement in one long take--is uncut and intact. It's also uncut in the old VHS video release (not sure if this is out on DVD yet).

in Brazil, GLOBO TV shows this entire fall of the bulding

I'll bet they cut it for violence on T.V. The old VHS is uncut.

If you really need to see it:

This was re-released as STATE OF DEATH after DEATH WISH became a hit so it may have been cut then.

Now available here : http://youtube.com/watch?v=pxv-kgJ_DOI Fantastic!

JFC, how fake was that? Surprised the stuffing didn't pop out.

They just showed the complete fall on Movies! network, as well as the coup d' grace of all the bosses.

Life is pain. Anyone who says differently is selling something.

You remember correctly. A mobster does fall out of a high rise, after being shot, and falls to the ground.
Shown uncut occationally on TCM. No authorized DVD release (US or UK).

However a great widescreen print is avail on many bittorrent sites.

Does anyone know why that scene was cut? I didn't find it all that graphic, just pretty cool.

reply

I saw The Stone Killer on Cracle, a Sony TV-internet service and I don't think it was cut. The scene shows the mobster going out the window and landing (and bouncing slightly) on the pavement.

Some other guy falls down a stair shaft a few minutes later.

Great movie!

I think you saw the unedited version. Is Crackle worth using, and what are the charges like?

This film is a lot of fun. I love '70s cop thrillers, and Bronson never disappoints.

reply

Crackle is free but you need to have a Sony Blu-ray Player to see it on TV. I think anyone can use use their website. It is an internet TV service like Netflix but it has commercials (which sucks). But it has a good selection. Smaller than Netflix but more to my liking.

There are lots of 70's crime/action movies on Crackle right now including a number of Bronson movies.

I recently also watched Black Gunn starring Jim Brown and Hard Times starring Bronson and James Coburn.

reply

Thanks for the details. It looks like they have a great selection and some real obscurities. I guess commercials are the price you pay.

I love blaxploitation, but somehow "Black Gunn" slipped through the cracks with me. I'll check that out. Thanks again.

Have never seen it without the window fall.

What was cut from some theatrical versions was what followed - Lawrence (Margolin) running round the room with a pistol shooting the bodies to make sure all are dead.

Just showed both falls and the coup de grace scenes on Movies! network.

SONYHD shows both scenes as well.
