What happened to those who were scooped?

Good question! What's the deterrent? The possibility of injury? It can't be taking you somewhere bad, because how tough would it be to just jump off?

They don't show what happens to them. I think the initial assumption is they just get hauled away (detention? prison? Just dumped off until they cool down in some holding pen).

But I think it's left ambiguous on purpose so that people might make the connection that they get turned into Soylent Green.
