Problem with the script

I know this movie is meant to be based on the physical comedy, but I totally didn't fall for Luna's complete personality change after Milo gets captured by the cops. I mean, did she really fall in love with him that fast? Who agrees with me? Besides that, I thought the movie was hilarious. But what was up with the Miss America scene? It was pretty funny but ... strange.

My take on the Miss America scene was how the futuristic autocratic government had to reprogram the mind of someone who was viewed as a threat to the government. They had to find the most mindless thing they could find in order to reprogram the mind. And they chose the Miss America contest. [This was Woody Allen's take on that contest, of course!]
