Slow pacing - sign of the times

I was a huge fan of TSMDM in the 70s. However, I had never watched the pilot movie showing Steves origins.

I finally got to see it last night. I enjoyed it but one thing that really struck me is how slow paced it was compared to the fast pace and style of todays hit TV shows.

There were many scenes where the camera would show the doctors face for maybe 5 - 10 seconds or show hospital equipment for an extended period of time.

It was interesting to see this. Can you imagine something coming out like that today? With the squillions of tv stations to choose from people would flick to something else almost straight away.

As everyone else has said on many other threads - I hope they do a remake / modern movie of this show. This is iconic material for an entire generation.

It would also be nice if Lee Majors could be given a cameo in it just for nostalgia purposes!

In case anyone connected to the original show should read this - thank you for bringing us some great entertainment!

For its time and genre 'Six Million Dollar Man' was one of the more well thought out series. The special effects are very good for their time. The series may have run for a series or so longer than it should have, but even at its worst it was still good entertainment. I especially liked the story line in the pilot about Steve coming to terms with the accident and the bionic limbs.

If they do remake it or make a theatrical version I just hope it is make by people who care about the franchise - I would hate to see Jam Carrey as Steve Austin. Let's not see it go the same route as 'Starsky & Hutch'.

He's already had a cameo in Jake 2.0. Maybe they'll throw him in on the new Bionic Woman.

You know, the girl says something about having difficulty adjusting to it, and Lee says something like, "Ah, you'll get used to it."

No, no - Pillage first, then burn! Stupid Vikings...
