What's the twist? I don't get it!

Okay, so I was sort of enjoying this movie, until it started getting all too silly once Grave got trapped at the nut house, and we started seeing those weird black & white flashbacks, of Grace and Danielle as twins.

From this point on, the film just made no sense to me! What was the big twist??

So, Domique & Danielle were conjoined twins. They had an operation to be separated, but Dominique died during the operation. So Danielle grew up and lived alone as one. But she was crazy, and had a split personality, occasionally 'turning' into the dead Dominique and committed the murder of the black man. Is this right??

OR, was it....

Dominique never existed, and Grace was actually the conjoined twin to Danielle?? Aaa argh, not of it makes f&@cking sense!!!

Dominique died during sperattion. but in Danielle's mind, she was still alive. I believe the doctor was going to join Grace to Daniell by the end of the movie because she got caught in the hospital.

Weird, eh?

Danielle says her sister died a year ago. I took that to mean that she started taking the pills a year earlier and that was when she first recognised Dominique was dead. As Emil says to her, she refuses to see it and can't face up to her guilt over Dominiques death, so has blocked it out and gone a bit mental.

Danielle it seems wasn't crazy, but Dominiques death tipped her over the edge.

Pretty much... The memory of her sister haunted her so much that she'd ocassionally change personalities.

Danielle and Dominique were both very much real and very much cojoined twins, the doctor however hypnotized both Danielle and even Grace eventually in the last 15 minutes.

He hypnotized a long time ago Danielle into making her fall in love with the doctor (right after the death of Dominique, perhaps to avoid a lawsuit or just because he was a sleazebag) but little did he know that when he was hypnotizing her Danielle slipped into her Dominique persona.

So when the doctor told her that 'you love me and only me' stuff "Dominique" was the "only one" who got to believe that where as Danielle as herself did not and saw him as a stalker.

And the reason that "Dominique" killed the black man was because she thought she loved the doctor and I guess saw that as the only way to undo what had been done, the 'betrayal of their love'.

The doctor then in the end decided that enough is enough and he was not only gonna have Dominique's love but Danielle's as well so again he gave her the love me love me hypnotization again, but this time most likely affecting both personas not just the Dominique one.

He also hypnotized Grace into thinking that none of it ever happened that it was a big mistake like she said very robotic like to the police officer when he came back in the end.

The film went to shit in that same part for me.
