TV SERIES

Anyone seen the TV series? Be cool to see that get a DVD release...

I remember it well. There's a reason it only lasted a season. After you give a movie franchise the restrictions of television (especially TV in the 70s) you gut the whole thing. Shaft was no Columbo.

I realize the OP was several years ago now, but The TV Series has now had a DVD release for about a year. You can find it on eBay, just do a search for Shaft TV and there about half a dozen vendors to get it from (or there were when I got one last week).

I was a 10-year-old kid when the TV Series played. I had seen the first movie on TV, and I seem to recall they showed the second movie on TV about the time the series started. A few years ago I was reminiscing on some scenes I remember from Shaft movies, and was lamenting to find that none of the theatrical movies had the scenes. It took a long time (in the early days of Google) to find any info about the TV show. I am watching the DVDs of the TV show today, and it's wonderful to see again the scenes I remember!

In places it does feel like TV rather than movie, but it does appear that it was framed originally for 1.85:1 presentation, and if you just remember this was 70s TV they are actually very good Shaft movies.

I especially remember scenes from "The Executioners", "Hit-Run", and "The Kidnapping". They have stayed with me all my life, and are as good today as I remember when I was a kid.

Just my .02 . . . . .
