Wouldnt Buddy(Scheider) have been arrested for assault?

I love this movie, like most here. I have seen it many times since the late '70's. And in some ways--I like it even MORE than Bullitt. It has action, suspense, shoot-outs a GREAT car chase and so on...

BUT-- Wouldn't ANY case that the cops had against the Mob guys have been dismised after buddy and his team "persuaded" information from the guy in the hopsital, threatening to kill him if he did not talk, and then they did the same to another one at night, going so far as to breaking into his house and threatening his wife??

I mean--even THEN--wouldn't any case be tossed out, and the Seven-up team arrested for assault , burglary and attempted murder, among other things??

There would have to be some evidence of assault against him for it to be proven.

Remember this, in "copworld," it's always his word against mine. Who is the judge more apt to believe?

I think you mean "Who is the judge more likely to side with?".

There were no witnessess.

Even though it is fictional, the scene was believeable.
