I watched it last night on DVD and I really liked it. Al Pacino was great
Did you ever watch him in the film Phil Specter with Helen Mirren? He was great in that too.
classic movie, one of Pacinos early, edgier roles.
I would also recommend Dog Day Afternoon from the same time period.
And Prince Of The City, not Pacino but another movie by director Sidney Lumet with a similar true story. Treat Williams plays a cop who gets fed up with the corruption in the police force, and starts wearing wiretaps and informing on cops and detectives.
Prince Of The City is a really good one, right in the same vein as Serpico.
sharePrince of the City has a similar police-corruption theme, and the imagery is somewhat similar. But unlike Serpico, Prince of the of the City is not an excellent movie. The plot is too drawn out, too dry, too expositive.
