Movies about Famous Police officers

Are there any other movies about famous police officers besides Serpico and J. Edgar?

Donnie Brasco is a good one.

Although the movie is fictionalized, The French Connection deserves a mention cause Popeye Doyle is based on Eddie Egan.

If you haven't seen it yet, The Untouchables. It's the story of Elliot Ness taking down Al Capone.

Flic Story (Roger Borniche)

Citizen X (Viktor Burakov)

Zodiac (David Toshi...FYI, Clint Eastwood's character in Dirty Harry was based off of Toshi.)

...if that was off, I'd be whoopin' your ass up and down this street. ~ an irate Tarantino

...and Scorpio was based off of Zodiac!

Heheh.

Agreed with PRINCE OF THE CITY above, one of the best.

american gangster? russell crowe's character in it is very reminiscent of serpico - in fact, please forgive me if he was actually PLAYING serpico, it's been a while since i saw it. but there was the whole thing of not taking bribes and doing things by the book, and in the end striking up a friendship with denzel's gangster character to bring down all the bent cops when he was in custody.

Toschi was also the model for Steve McQueen's character in Bullit (1968).

"Walking Tall" (parts 1, 2 and 3). Based on Sheriff Buford Pusser of McNairy County Sheriff's Dept., Tennessee. What a great movie!

Somewhat similar to Serpico (and probably meant to cash in, as it came out a year later), it's the story of two honest undercover cops who run into police corruption, though not as bad as in Serpico's case. Or in a different way. It's kind of funny in places, actually.
