Shot in 3-4 weeks!!!

Just watched an interview and he said they shot this in 3-4 weeks, WOW, Lumet really knew what he was doing.

He's a master filmmaker. That being said, 3-4 weeks, and it was all shot in reverse order, and there's a lot of actors and scenes, too. Seems like it'd be a headache to make and would take a while but it was completed in record time for only a cool million and it was a box office success. A groundbreaking, unique, dark, brilliant, cheaply- and quickly-made film being a box office success? That's amazing.

Today a million dollars is bird seed. Big name actors can rate $10M to $20M just for their salary alone.

Lumet only wants few takes for each scene and always rehearses with his actors for preparations. No surprise there.

Not unusual for films to be shot in that time in the 1960s and 1970s. It is only epics and Kubrick films that took their time.
