Frenchy!

Why was Frenchy, a girl who could probably have any guy in that town, head over hells for her friends smelly homeless brother, with a temper problem?

Loved her in Three's Company.

Because the movie is so bad that it glorifies a schmuck!

Nah, it's because love knows nothing of order. (St. Jerome)

reply

Because she was a nympho.
Because his sister had glorified him so much.
Because, in some way, she was hurting as Max was.

There is a thing called chemistry. You can't mess with it. It's the most powerful thing on earth.

Max was glorified by his sister. That is one thing. The second thing is that Max is portrayed as a man full of masculinity (someone who looks strong..body built) total opposite of Francis! You can see Max's masculinity in his fights and moreover in the scene where he is beating the guy who attempted to rape Poor Francis.

So Frenchy was all the time looking at Max with admiration. I translate it to be a lonely woman looking for someone as powerful as Max to protect her..

The way Max appears in the movie reminds me of how Stanley Kowalski looked in A Street Car Named Desire played by Marlon Brando. Stella loved him in spite of his unclean/lack of etiquette attitude.

It's Pacino. It's enough.

Max asked Frenchy how she got her name...she said "In high school, everyone just started calling me Frenchy".

I think Frenchy had been around the block a few times! and that was OK with Max!

I can't understand your last phrase. What does "been around the block" mean?

"It's Pacino. It's enough. At the very least...he'll craft a word or line of dialogue"

reply

"been around the block"
someone who has slept with many people and is considered a slut in so many words.

reply

Well, Billyed, you got it both right and wrong at the same time. Surely, Frenchy has been "around the block", yet Max is not fine with this. He states so just before the parade moment. And is Frenchy's answer, not knowing all of them as he's done with Max, what hits Max's soft spot. This whole movie deals with Max learning how to be less radical and more forgiving with the world and its doings. Max, for example, knew that he was just a one-night stand for the first girl he hit on --the brawler drunk when Lyon also hit on a mannequin. But Frenchy, as he told Lyon, wasn´t all about sex. Those were two persons in need of a better life --and that's why Max could forgive Frechy's past. After all, Max's only concern is the future.

Not really. Coley told Francis that Max is stupid and that it may not be a good idea to go into business with him.

I translate it to be a lonely woman looking for someone as powerful as Max to protect her.

The OP wrote that Frenchy looks hot enough to have any guy she wanted. Hence, she doesn't come across as lonely.

I agree with the earlier poster who wrote about chemistry. That, and the fact that Frenchy is probably promiscuous and gets excited when meeting new guys who are her type.
