Truly a masterpiece, and one of my all-time favorites, BUT...

...I do have to wonder what I would have made of it if I had gone in having no idea of who Bruno Schulz was.

I mean, I'm a sucker for weird and/or surreal films, and the gorgeous dreamscapes Has conjures up would probably be enough to sell me on it (though I confess what I personally gleaned from Schulz's writings was a lot brighter and airier, tinted with a warm, sunny childhood nostalgia), but it's clear this is first and foremost a love letter to the man and his (well-deserving) fiction.
