did anybody else hate Fong Sai-yuk?

His rock throwing, mud stomping tantrum was a big WTF?

I shouldve turned it off after he was rolled down the side of the hill and the baddie says "he left half his skin on the hillside". That was the high point of the film for me.

I just could not root for the guy.

I didn't hate fong, yet I didn't find him entirely sympathetic. he was a bit arrogant, at the very least. come to think of it, many of the characters portrayed by meng fei ARE arrogant and unsympathetic. the man had charisma, as well as undoubted fighting skills. yet I can see why he didn't become an international superstar like bruce lee. meng fei oftentimes comes off as a bit self-righteous (like many heroes in martial arts films). it's sometimes difficult to identify with the characters that he plays.
nonetheless, from a 2014 perspective, I would still rate him (along with cliff lok) as one of the "lost legends" of martial arts films. meng fei was overshadowed by the likes of bruce lee and Jackie chan (perhaps even by sho kosugi), yet fei IS worthy of respect and recognition.
