Much more daring than the original

This film, while being very low budget, is a wonderful adaptation of Wilde's novel. It has much more of an edge to it than the original 1945 version. Dorian's character is much darker in this and it makes for a very creepy film.

I agree. I think that's mostly thanks to Dan Curtis's doing. He was the creator of the show Dark Shadows and he produced this. The music in this version were all tracks from the Dark Shadows soundtrack.

Thank you for your informative posts about this film. Obviously you're well into this story.

I just finished watching it and was taken in by its creepiness. The two lines that struck a chord in me were:

"A man's good name is the most important thing he has."
and
"I was alone now... totally alone."

I picked this film up think it was the 1945 version which, by the way, is still in my watch list and I'm eager tick off. There was some fine drama in this particular production. Unfortunately, however, it failed to lift the veil of staged drama, if you know what I mean.

For the record, I rated it 7/10.
