Why didnt McQueen get the Oscar?

Not that the Academy has ever been known to be fair but Steve McQueen deserved the Oscar for Papillon. It is one of the most sincere performances ever on screen.

I think he should have got it for "Bullitt".

By the way... Star Wars prequels suck!!

reply

I don't think he deserved the Oscar, because he was playing a French man but had an American accent and spoke English?!

reply

In another year, he might have; 1973 was a pretty good year for movies.

reply

Wake up. Everyone in the movie is speaking English without a French accent, not just McQueen.

reply

McQueen was a rebel who never missed an opportunity to thumb his nose at the Hollywood establishment (yay!). This would hardly endear him to the Academy voters.

I think I'll have a large order of prognosis negative.

reply

I guess he would need a nomination first, to be able to get a shot at the Oscar...

Ow, I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?
