The Hotel Scenes

The inside (not the outside) of the hotel in the "Trixie Delight" scene is very similar to of one of my favorite old small-town hotels here in Florida (built in 1915) - they even have a similar elevator, that, like in the movie, is usually "being repaired", so, before they built a brand-new elevator shaft and elevator, I often had to carry the luggage up their grand staircase to the second or third floors...

They also have transoms over the doors (good for listening, per Addie), and, the bathrooms have bathtubs with "feet" along with separate hot and cold faucets in the sink (fortunately, they modernized the bathtub faucets - prevents lots of yelling), along with 12-foot ceilings and windows that rattle when the wind blows...

The bathroom scene where Addie is looking at her Mother's photo is so familiar to me from the bathrooms at "my" hotel, that it almost gave me a "deja vu" kind of feeling, for sure...

The front desk is the same as it was during the early days, complete with individual room pigeon holes for mail or telegrams...

They even regularly play the same '30s big band music in the lobby that is heard in the film - I arrived after sunset during my first trip there, and, with the '30s music playing in the lobby, it was like stepping back in time (without the DeLorean), and that's all right with me...
