Prohibition

This is one of my favorite movies, but two chronological issues bother me. One is the 1936 Ford Moze trades the 1930 Model A for, in 1935.........! Another is that as the year this takes place has been established as 1935, and Prohibition ended in 1933, why is the sherrif's brother ''bootlegging'' in Kansas in 1935? There may be some mitigating factors which would account for this, but on the surface it's a big plot hole.

The 21st amendment to the U.S. Constitution ended prohibition at the national level in 1933, but Kansas already had its own state-wide prohibition law which was still in effect, and remained so for several years. Low-strength beer finally became legal in 1937, but stronger liquors were still outlawed in the state until the end of the 1940s.

Even to this day there are some counties in some states that are "dry counties". Some allow no sale of alcohol at all. Some just on sundays.

Lynchburg, Tennessee where Jack Daniels whiskey is made is a dry county.

That is a true definition of irony!

Sorry, I'm just, it's starting to hit me like a um, a 2 ton heavy thing!
